Exercise
I'm on a slippery slope. I have not worked out all week. I haven't ridden and I have only walked once. I miss it. I am cranky without it but I have issues getting up in the dark to go to the gym. I think it was easier this summer because it was light. So after the time changes I should be better off. My work has been in the way and this last week was just crazy. I'm hoping to hit cycle class today but don't know if I'll make it or not. I have to exercise in the mornings. I could probably do afternoons too if i had time I'm so tired at night that I have a hard time forcing myself to the gym.

Tracking apps
I used my footsteps app today when I did my 15 minute run/walk. I think I like it better than run keeper. Run keeper never says I'm going as fast as my footsteps app, and it doesn't seem to switch my speed from walk to run when I'm mixing it up. It also doesn't say I'm going as fast as I know I am when I'm running, clocking me under 4mph when I'm jogging. That doesn't seem right. Of course, I don't know that run keeper isn't right, but the footsteps pedometer app logs me more like the couch to 5K mileage I see on the treadmill, so I tend to think it's right.
So, what apps are good for logging miles and speed? I like the idea of run keeper, but I didn't find it accurate. I like my footsteps b/c it logs my calories similar to what my fitness pal does.
Speaking of my fitness pal. I found a new app called Lose it that goes with a book by the same name. It gives me more calories and works along the lines of the BMR calculator that I learned about from listening to fat2fit radio. I'm pretty impressed so far with the idea that you shouldn't "diet" but should eat like the thin person you want to become. I have started losing again and I'm not working so hard. It's coming off more slowly, but that's OK.

Zumba
I went to a class called Zumba tonight. It's a Latin fusion dance/aerobic class. It was a great workout and tons of fun! I've already looked at the YMCA schedule to find out when I can go again! The steps were hard, but I found that I was pretty good at it in spite of my normal, non-dancing ways!
Today wasn't a good food/eating day, so I thought extra exercise was called for. Supposedly zumba burns about 600 calories in an hour, so I figure it was worth it.
The hour went by really fast.

Exercise Week 6 Day 1
This week marks the beginning of my 2nd full month on the Never Say Diet plan. I measured today and I have lost a half inch from my bust and waist and thighs. I have lost an inch off my chest, below my bust, and I have gained a half inch in my arms (more muscle) I stayed the same in my hips. Today I'm supposed to start tracking all the food I eat, but not really making a ton of changes yet. I'm supposed to identify trigger foods as well. I'm also supposed to begin weight training 2-3 times per week. I have my balance ball and plan to do some weights in a little while and watch TV. I walked with the dogs this am. I shorted myself a little so I need to do a 30 minute Wii walk in a bit. I have gained .8 pounds in the last month. I'm trying not to care, but it's hard.

Exercise: week 5 day 4
I had to repeat a week of exercise b/c last week I forgot to log in my time. I did it every day, save one, but I forgot to write it down. So, in my Never Say Diet plan, I'm only in week 3 in the book, but it's really week five since I started a week before I started logging and I had to repeat a week. I'm not supposed to alter my food intake before the end of the first month, but I'm ready to start now and I believe that I will. I have eaten enough junk food for a lifetime. I'm ready to eat more raw food, less processed grains and a little less meat. I'm not sure how those around me will react, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway. I must consume more raw food. My scales had dropped and then sharply rose again as I have had a week of eating out. The sodium in this meals out really gets me and it has got to stop.
Tonight I did 30 minutes on the Wii fit on the free walk while I watched Tv. This has been my preference this week, though I need to get back to doing the Maya workouts because I know I burn more calories. I'm just glad I put the time in even though I didn't really want to.
I have also downloaded some podcasts to get me running. They help you cycle on and off with your walking and running time for endurance.
Tomorrow we were going to go to Faire, but with the rain I don't think we will. Instead I think Maggie and I will go to the Y in the morning and work out and then take care of the horses. We plan to watch movies tomorrow and I'm going to sew/crochet/cross stitch. I'm really looking forward to a down day.
Fiera's face looks terrible with the staples pulled loose. I don't know if she scratched it, or if an infection developed or what exactly, but the wound is just ugly. I started her on antibiotics tonight through a syringe. I knew there was no hope of her eating the powder, so I mixed it up with yogurt and tubed it in her mouth. I will do this for a few days to make sure she gets it all. I may do it the whole 7 days if I have to. I have to smear wound balm on it and in it to pack the wound to keep it moist from the inside. It's really nasty. amazing how a little horse can damage herself with one false move. She's being a decent patient though. I'm happy about that.

Exercise day 3
Today I got up again and did my 30 minute workout with Maya. I am even considering bumping up to 45 minutes a few days per week so I can get a full cardio workout three days along with the specific body area work. Not really ready to do that yet, but in another week or two I think I will.
I have replaced drinking coffee and looking at the computer first thing with a cup of hot tea and a work. Not a bad trade off!
I couldn't ride Liberty yesterday b/c when I rode him Tuesday I got a lead rope stuck under the saddle and I made a bruised spot in his back. He didn't complain the whole time I rode him so I didn't know anything was wrong. Poor guy! I did get his feet trimmed though and played with him for awhile, so that was nice.
Maggie had a good round pen session with Dixie. She had her really paying attention and doing what she wanted. I was really proud of her.
We were going to ride today, but Maggie has a cold, so we're chilling at home.

Starting a new routine
Since Christmas I have been turning over a new leaf of getting up and exercising. I haven't done it every day, but it's been better than I did before. I have been doing 15 minutes of the Fitness trainer that Peter got me, and then yesterday I took Frankie for a walk and did the fitness trainer. I have started logging my exercise and food into sparkpeople again. I have come to realize that even though I am now exercising, I'm not doing enough each day. I will be upping it in the days to come, but I suspect I will have to divide my exercise between morning and evening b/c I don't think I have time to burn enough calories before breakfast. Tomorrow I'm planning to get up with Maggie and go to the Y before school. This is all part of my goal for better fitness and weight loss so my poor horse won't be carting around so much weight. I'm thinking that if I do the cardio work every day during lent, it will become a habit. Someone told me I needed to take a day off, and I might find that to be true, in which case, I won't walk on Sunday...but since I usually ride on Sunday, I will probably make up for the walk. And, I think that I should walk every day. I don't think that's hard enough work not to do it.
